They’re best known for their roles as bar owners on Britain’s biggest soaps EastEnders and Coronation Street.

And Shane Richie and Beverley Callard channelled their characters Alfie Moon and Liz McDonald for a Castle Pub Challenge on Tuesday’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

They took a trip down memory lane as actor, 56 asked the TV star, 63: ‘Are you ready to pull a pint, Miss McDonald?’, before the duo were drenched in liquid.

Cheers! Shane Richie and Beverley Callard channelled their characters Alfie Moon and Liz McDonald for a Castle Pub Challenge on Tuesday’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

For the task, they were required to hang the 10 most common names of UK pubs in order from most to least recognised.

The campmates pulled a beer pump whenever they thought their sequence was correct, but were soaked with ‘watered down, stale beer’ from the barrels if they got their signs in the wrong order.

Hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly revealed that if they managed to order the list accurately, they would earn access to The Castle Inn for their co-stars.

‘If we can win this, they will scream with delight’, an excited Beverley revealed.

Mimicking Alfie, the comedian joked: ‘Are you ready to pull a pint, Miss McDonald’, to which the TV legend replied: ‘I believe I am Mr. Moon.’

Pretending to be in the Queen Vic, Shane, whose character resided in the pub from 2002 until 2004 and between 2010 and 2013, added: ‘Kat [Moon, his on-screen wife played by Jessie Wallace], get out love, I’m serving Liz.’

Outspoken Liz, meanwhile, owned Corrie’s Rovers Return Inn with her on-screen son Steve (Simon Gregson) and her ex Tony Stewart (Terence Maynard) from 2013 until 2017.

After winning the challenge, the happy stars said: ‘They are going to go mad when we tell them what we’ve won.’

Shane and Beverley decided to play a track on their fellow contestants as they claimed they hadn’t received a call from Kiosk Cledwyn and faked they had failed the challenge.

After receiving disappointed looks from their pals, the Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps star exclaimed: ‘We’ve got drinks – and snacks!’

Later in the episode, Beverley and Victoria Derbyshire were announced as the third and fourth celebrities to be evicted from North Wales’ Gwrych Castle.

The remaining stars will continue to be eliminated from the programme each night until the finale on Friday, after parasport athlete Hollie Arnold and actress Ruthie Henshall were booted from the show last week.
