I’m A Celebrity 2020: Shane Ritchie and Mo Farah in hysterics after EastEnders’ Bat Putcher gaffe

They delighted viewers with their EastEnders role play during Wednesday’s show.

And I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! fans were treated to another soap scene during Thursday’s episode as Shane Richie reprised his role of Alfie Moon and Mo Farah took on the persona of Phil Mitchell once more.

Both the actor, 56, who left the camp at the end of the show, and athlete, 37, who was voted out on Wednesday, were left in hysterics after Mo accidentally called soap icon Pat Butcher, BAT Putcher.

Shane was seen creating a mock scene which he wrote on the chalkboard during the acting class with Olympian Mo.

Mo took on the role of Phil and appeared as if he’d been working hard on perfecting the accent, attempting to commit to his Bad Boy role in the short scene.

In the session Mo was seen holding Shane’s chin as he told him to ‘get the medals ’cause we’re gonna melt them down and make some new earrings for Bat Putcher.’

Shane and Mo couldn’t stop laughing as they continued to try and act, but their composure was completely gone after Mo’s gaffe.

Shane asked ‘Pat or Bat Butcher?’ and said ‘I don’t know a Bat Putcher’ while attempting to keep a straight face, however it only took a second for the pair to fall about laughing.

Speaking after the hilarious incident, Shane said: ‘If Steve McFadden is watching, Steve, you’ve got someone on your tails here mate. He could be a new Mitchell brother coming in…watch out.’

I’m A Celeb fans quickly took to Twitter to share their enjoyment of the moment, with many saying that Mo calling Pat, Bat was one of their highlights.

One person penned: ‘Mo calling Pat Butcher Bat Putcher is my most favourite TV moment of the year’.

The Olympic gold medallist got into character as the EastEnders‘ bad boy for a reenactment of a scene with Shane, aka Alfie Moon.

The actor, 56, taught Mo how to speak and walk like hardman Phil, before playing out a drama-filled scene for their delighted campmates.

Mo followed the soap star around the campfire as he perfected his walk and accent, yelling lines like, ‘Alfie, this is my manor!’

Shane said: ‘He’s moving along nicely with the East End accent. I reckon if we’re here for another couple of days, he could be a new reg in the Queen Vic.’

Mo later said in the telegraph: ‘I learned some more cockney from Alfie. I just remember Phil Mitchell telling someone off or him not being happy with someone.’

Despite the recent theatrics, both Mo and Shane have now left the I’m A Celeb camp, meaning  Vernon Kay, Giovanna Fletcher, and Jordan North are the finalists.

The trio are now in the running to be the first ever King or Queen of the castle, after the series moved to Wales amid the COVID-19 crisis.

Shane was voted off by the public on Thursday night, 24 hours before the grand finale on Friday.

But the ex-EastEnders actor felt happy with how far he’d come, pleased to make it to the infamous Celebrity Cyclone.

He was seen taking part in it with the other three in the episode, ahead of his eviction.

Shane said: ‘It’s mixed emotions. You know, getting so far… We were all really glad to do the Celebrity Cyclone last night, being in the fantastic four.

‘We felt we’d achieved… I think whenever anyone comes on this show, they feel the final is the Cyclone, and anything after that is a bonus.’
