I’m A Celebrity fans call for ITV to bring the show back to Gwrych Castle

It took place in Wales for the first time in the show’s 20-year history after it was forced to relocate amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

And now I’m A Celebrity fans have called for the show to move to Gwrych Castle, Abergele, in northern Wales permanently.

On Friday night, 12 million votes were cast with Giovanna Fletcher, 35, being crowned champion- with the final drawing in one million more than last year.

Make it return: I’m A Celebrity fans have called for the show to move to Gwrych Castle in northern Wales permanently

The show usually takes place in the Australian bush, with celebrities camping in the jungle.

However due to travel restrictions during the pandemic, this has not been possible this year.

Fans have suggested the show should move to the Welsh castle permanently, or alternate years between Wales and Australia.

One fan said: ‘I think #ImACelebrity should stay in the castle because what a bloomin series it has been and one of the best parts, no splitting them up and sending them to different camps. It was the revamp no one knew we needed, but we did! Loved it so so much’

Another wrote: ‘I honestly think this years @imacelebrity has been the best in years!!! Actually enjoyed it being in the Castle rather than the Jungle! Wish they would return to the castle for another series!!! #I’mACelebrity’

A third commented: ‘Can we have #imacelebrity back in the castle next year please @antanddec, this has been the best and funniest series by far’

Another Twitter user added: ‘I hope they stay in the Castle on #imacelebrity it’s been one of the best series in ages’

A viewer said: ‘IT IS THE BEST!!! This has been my favourite series of #ImACelebrity EVER! It should be at this castle every year!!! Wonderful!!!’

Other fans thought it would be better if the series alternated between being in the jungle in Australia and being at the castle.

One wrote: ‘Do think this series in the castle has been really good but I’d prefer it to go back to the jungle, or at least do alternate years from the jungle to the castle, the permanent move could ruin it #imacelebrity #imaceleb’

Another added: ‘I really enjoyed this series, I loved the castle and I hope they do it again. Maybe alternate years. A sense of normality and something to look forward to at the end of the day after a very difficult year. Thank you @imacelebrity #ImACelebrity #ImACeleb #ImACelebFinal’

A third commented: ‘Well I think that’s been the best series of #ImACelebrity ever. The castle gave it an air of something magical. I hope the powers that be consider making it a regular thing, perhaps alternate between Aus and Wales @antanddec @ITV’

Best and funniest: I’m A Celebrity viewers have called for the popular ITV show to return to the castle next year after the ‘best and funniest series’

It comes as a source told The Sun: ‘The show has been warmly received by a lot of people. Its viewing figures broke records as curious fans tuned in to see how different it looked, and millions stayed.

‘They only had ten weeks to prepare for life in Wales and they’ve pulled it off brilliantly. This shows it could be filmed anywhere but, if the world is open for business as usual next year, they would prefer it to be Oz.

‘So bosses are looking at the feasibility of it staying put for now. Australia is brilliant, and where the show belongs.’

Ever gracious in defeat, Jordan said it was: ‘Absolutely fantastic, I couldn’t be runner up to anyone better, the most genuine kindest person I’ve ever met.

Vernon stepped up to crown Giovanna, saying it was his honour to name her the first ever Queen of the Castle as 2019 winner Jacqueline Jossa was unable to attend the ceremony as is usually tradition.

After it was revealed he had come in third, Vernon hugged his competitors and said: ‘Well done you two, I’ve had the best time, you’ve been awesome.’
