Inside the stunning cutting-edge Vida superyacht by Heesen that has a plunge pool with waterfall

With a floating staircase, incredible wine cellar and luxury cabins, there’s no doubt this stunning superyacht is very special.

But its interior is not the only impressive thing – the vessel is also capable of refuelling and recharging two separate boats while at sea.

The superyacht, called Vida, is 180ft long and can carry 27,000 gallons of diesel – enough to make it from Florida to Bermuda and then be used as a floating gas station.

She has been designed by Dutch firm Heesen, which was tasked by the ship’s owner, an American sport fisherman, to create a new yacht to be the mothership of his sportfishing fleet.

Vida can keep the owner’s Bayliss 60 and Bayliss 68 fishing yachts running for several days in exotic climes of the likes of Costa Rica and Bermuda while the owner and his party search for elusive black marlin and game fish.

The interiors were designed by Be Design Associates and Vida’s standout feature is her backlit ivory onyx arch frames that serve as a display wine cellar for 42 bottles.

The cellar is described as a ‘welcome for Vida’s guests, with the bottles pointing inward to the stunning saloon like myriad signposts’.

More backlit ivory can be found on the yacht’s statement staircase, which features ‘floating steps’.

According to Heesen, designers used ‘alternating strips of fumé mirror and lacquered wood to form the basis of an incredibly intricate design that recalls the geometry one can create with Meccano pieces’.

Elsewhere there are five spacious staterooms, on the lower deck, while the 80-square-metre (860-square-foot) owner’s apartment is on the main deck. Vida can accommodate up to 12 guests.

The vessel also has a fully equipped gym and a large fixed platform to make access to the sea for swimming ‘extremely easy and comfortable’.
