Jenson Button’s fiancée Brittny Ward reveals their son was hospitalised after a febrile seizure

Jenson Button’s pregnant fiancée Brittny Ward has revealed their son Hendrix, 15 months, was rushed to hospital on Halloween after suffering a febrile seizure.

The model, 30, took to Instagram to share a snap of her little boy in the hospital bed as she explained the ‘scary’ moment he’d had a seizure after his temperature spiked.

Brittny, who is pregnant with her and Jenson’s second child, added that in recent days Hendrix had been feeling ‘much better and back to his playful self,’ and she decided to share the post to raise awareness of febrile seizures.

In the lengthy post, Brittny wrote: ‘The Button family didn’t have the best Halloween. Poor little Hendrix ended up having a febrile seizure Saturday afternoon after a sudden spike in temperature. 

‘We would like to bring more awareness to febrile seizures, they are much more common than we realised. 

‘They often happen to infants when there’s a sudden spike in temperature and it’s the body’s response trying to regulate itself. 

‘If you don’t know, when a child is having a febrile seizure it’s best to keep them cool as possible and DO NOT cover them up. 

‘It’s also best to lay them on their side so they don’t choke on their saliva. Hendrix is doing much better today and is seemingly back to his playful self. 

‘Thank you to everyone who helped us in this scary situation and everyone who reached out making sure he was OK.’

Febrile seizures are fits that can be triggered when a child has a high fever and often happen between the ages of six months and three years.

Signs may include the child suddenly becoming stiff with their limbs beginning to twitch, and they may lose consciousness.

The seizures typically do not last longer then five minutes, and if they do go on for longer its advised to seek medical attention.

Parents are advised to play their children in the recovery position if they are having a ferile seizure, and ensure they are kept cool and in a safe place until it passes.

They are not considered to have any long-term effects on the child, and it’s advised to make sure the child is kept cool and safe until it passes. 

Brittny and Jenson announced they’re expecting their second child together earlier this summer. 

The couple revealed they’re set to welcome a baby girl later this year with a snap of Brittny cradling her blossoming bump.

The news came just weeks after Jenson and Brittny were forced to postpone their wedding for the second time due to the COVID-19 pandemic, having pushed it back once after unexpectedly falling pregnant with their first child.

She wrote in the caption: ‘We can’t wait to meet you baby girl @hendrixbutton is going to be the best big brother.’

The couple are already proud parents to son Hendrix whose surprise arrival caused them to postpone their wedding. 

In May, Brittney took to Instagram to reveal their wedding will now take place in the summer of 2021.
