Juventus are ready to make a move for Chelsea duo Olivier Giroud and Emerson Palmieri in the January transfer window, according to reports in Italy.

Juve boss Andrea Pirlo is looking to bring in reinforcements to help turn his first season as a manager around, having watched his team slip to fourth in the table in recent weeks.

According to Il Bianco Nero, Pirlo wants to bring in Giroud and Emerson to help kick-start his campaign while he is also eyeing up moves for Sassuolo star Manuel Locatelli and Udinese ace Rodrigo De Paul.

Giroud has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge for the last year as he continues to search for more first-team minutes in order to secure his spot in France’s Euro 2020 squad.

The Frenchman has grown frustrated at the lack of chances he’s been given with the Blues and is now considering his options next month.

Giroud – who hasn’t started a single game this season – recently admitted: ‘It’s worrying.

‘I thought I still had a role to play at Chelsea but my playing time is getting reduced a lot. It’s going to have to change or a decision must be made.’

Antonio Conte is looking to rescue Giroud from his Chelsea nightmare and bring him to Inter Milan, while Tottenham and West Ham have also registered interest in the 34-year-old.

However, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard insists Giroud remains to be an important part of his plans and hopes he will stay beyond the January transfer window.

Lampard said: ‘I do have plans for Oli, he is very important in our squad. He was very important last year, he played a lot of games and made a lot of starts.

‘He’ll always want to play more but he’s a huge member of the squad for me. I know he will be important for us going forward, so I want Oli to be here and to stay.

‘I have a very good relationship with Oli and if ever he felt that it was going to go a different way then I would happily have that conversation with him.

‘But I want him to stay here. I’m open both ways if that ever changes but at the moment he is very important for us.’

Meanwhile, it doesn’t look like the same can be said for Emerson.

The Italian left back has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge behind Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso and has been reduced to cameo appearances this season.

The 26-year-old has featured five times across all competitions for Chelsea so far this season but has racked up just 158 minutes in total.
