Kate Garraway admits I’m A Celebrity shower scene was ‘more revealing than she hoped’

She stunned fans with her incredible physique when she enjoyed a jungle shower in a skimpy red bikini.

But Kate Garraway has jokingly admitted that she found her I’m A Celebrity shower moment ‘more revealing than she hoped,’ as she spoke to Lorraine Kelly on Wednesday about her jungle stint. 

The presenter, 52, admitted she found the experience ‘much harder’ then she expected but she was determined to ‘fly the flag’ for women over 50.

Reflecting on her jungle experience, Kate told Lorraine: ‘It was amazing, much harder than I thought. You kind of think, it’s TV, it’ll be fine. But it’s really real. 

‘You totally forget you’re being filmed. You’re on your own, it’s not like there’s a producer coming up to you going, ”oh well done”.’

‘After five days I thought, I really can’t do this, it’s so stressful. They wake you up in the middle of the night and you’ve no idea what day it is. I thought I’m going to have to be myself 100 per cent of the time.’

During Kate’s jungle stint she was praised by fans for displaying her incredible physique during a shower scene, despite reports the female campmates openly tried to avoid putting on such a display. 

Speaking about her bikini shower display, the Good Morning Britain star said: ‘I’m not Myleene Klass, that is more revealing than I’d hoped. Who wants to get in the shower with Nadine? Beautiful girl but not to stand next to.’

Kate has previously said that she dropped a stone Down Under after living on the diet of rice and beans, having already lost two stone before she even jetted to Australia.

When asked whether she surprised herself in the jungle, Kate said: ‘God yeah. I was surprised by how tough the challenges were. We interview people about it but it’s different when you’re doing it.

‘It’s fine in there but how do you do it in real life? There was a massive sense of community in there and I want to keep that going, that kindness.’

Kate added: ‘I definitely want to get really fit and feel stronger and fabulous and fly the flag for over 50s. How lovely was it when Myles said I fancy older women and I was like, really? I thought that was great. 

‘And you think, why not? Why are we putting ourselves down so much? Of course a younger man would fancy an older woman.’

Kate also earned a new fanbase for her candid conversations with her fellow campmates, especially given her history interviewing some of the UK’s biggest stars.

She explained: ‘That’s the fun bit for me. Having 40,000 cockroaches poured over you, not so fun. Sitting around, talking to people at the camp is amazing. 

‘They all have stories that you want to know and they were all so open. It was a lovely chance to chat and actually, people want to talk about yourself.’ 

Kate also spoke to Lorraine about her hilarious choice of luxury item, following her attempts to stay beautified in the camp setting.

She explained: ‘I had so much fake tan it was preposterous, I was orange. I dyed my eyebrows darker and, this is Carol Vorderman’s tip, put fake eyelashes on. 

‘I had concealer which was the most stupid luxury item to bring in because there was no mirror.’

After three weeks in the jungle Kate narrowly missed out on being in the I’m A Celebrity final when she was voted out in fourth place, but she was still praised for facing so many Bushtucker Trials.

Following the interview, Kate also received an unexpected surprise after she was offered a ‘mince pie’ by Andi Peters. 

When she bit into the treat, Kate was stunned to learn that the pie was actually filled with beef, and gagged as she struggled to swallow the mouthful.
