Peep Show actress Sophie Winkleman who’s married to the Queen’s cousin Lord Frederick Windsor brands Princess Beatrice a ‘heavenly girl’ – and says the royal ‘looked exquisite on her wedding day’

Lady Frederick Windsor has told how she thought Princess Beatrice looked ‘exquisite’ on her wedding day.
Sophie Winkleman, 40, who is married to Lord Frederick Windsor, 41, the son of the Queen’s first cousin, Prince Michael of Kent, also praised Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew‘s daughter, 32, for getting married in ‘such a small yet intimate way.’
Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and Beatrice were due to wed at St James’s Palace on 29 May but plans were postponed due to Covid-19 – and they instead tied the knot in a surprise secret ceremony at Windsor Castle on 17 July with just twenty guests.
‘Beatrice is a heavenly girl,’ said Sophie, speaking to Hello magazine. ‘I thought she looked exquisite on her wedding day and it was very dignified to have married in such a small yet beautiful way.’

Sophie’s daughters Maud, 6, and Isabella, 3, were among the bridal party for Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s wedding in October.
The former Peep Show actress, who lives in London, also told how she marked her 40th birthday earlier this month at home with her family – surrounded by cards, flowers and presents.
‘I was so lucky, I felt truly loved and spoiled,’ she said. ‘It was a wonderful way to start this decade.
‘I also had the most spectacular five-layer birthday cake baked for me by my wonderful friend Jamie Oliver. He’s so insanely busy; I was so touched.’

Sophie, who is half-sister of TV presenter Claudia Winkleman, is well known for playing ‘Big Suze’ alongside David Mitchell and Robert Webb in Channel 4 comedy series Peep Show, which aired between 2003 and 2015.
She married Lord Frederick – a great-grandson of George V – in September 2009 at Hampton Court and the couple welcomed their first child, Maud Elizabeth Daphne Marina in August 2013. Their second daughter, Isabella Alexandra May, was born in January 2016.
In June, Lady Frederick Windsor revealed she has found lockdown ‘frustrating and tiring’ and admitted her attempt at homeschooling has not gone ‘brilliantly’ during an interview with Tatler.
She said it has been difficult teaching six-year-old daughter Maud, who attends Thomas’s Battersea, the same school as Prince George, six, and Princess Charlotte, five.
‘Children need to socialise and they get extremely bored if they don’t, and I’ve not been covering myself in glory with this online learning thing,’ explained Sophie.
‘The teachers have been really brilliant, but I’ve been loath to stick my six-year-old in front of a screen all day long.
‘She hasn’t done a lot of the lessons, so she’s probably a bit behind. I’m not doing brilliantly, that’s for sure.’
