Laura Whitmore and Maya Jama appear to IGNORE each other at BRITs

EXCLUSIVE: Former Love Island host Laura Whitmore and new presenter Maya Jama appear to IGNORE each other while at the same table in awkward moment at the BRIT Awards

Former Love Island host Laura Whitmore and the show’s new presenter Maya Jama appeared to ignore each other while at the same table at the Brit Awards 2023.

The awkward moment happened on Saturday night at the 02 Arena in London as stars from the music world gathered for the annual event.

Pictures and video show the two women stood directly next to each other at the ITV table – but they only seem to be interested in speaking to other people on either side to them, at one point even turning their backs on each other.

A source told MailOnline that the pair were sat on the ITV table together but ‘didn’t speak to each other once during the whole ceremony’.

A insider said: ‘Maya and Laura were sat on the ITV table together but didn’t speak to each other once during the whole ceremony.

‘At one point they were stood with their backs to each other.

‘Maya was happily speaking to Laura’s husband Iain Stirling but didn’t chat to Laura once. There is definitely some tension between them.’

Maya, 28, took over from Laura, 37, this year to host the winter series in South Africa and has been a huge hit with fans since taking the helm.

It comes after it was revealed that Maya is currently winning in the TV world as Love Island bosses granted her 50 percent more airtime than previous host Laura.

After just four days of the latest winter series, Maya had already been featured in the hit TV show for 19 minutes and 55 seconds.

In the same episode of the last series, Laura had only clocked up 13 minutes and 26 seconds.

Maya became the host of this year’s Love Island after Laura quit the show just after three series due to the struggle of the travelling hours now that she is a new mum.

It’s been suggested that producers plan to keep Maya on the show for a while as she’s ‘now a major TV force to be reckoned with’.

Industry expert Jonathan Shalit explained to Daily Mail: ‘Maya is quite simply fantastic – a true star and now a household name.

‘She has nailed the role of Love Island host totally and shown herself to be a world A-list star.

‘She is now a major TV force to be reckoned with.’

Meanwhile, a source added that the ‘electric’ launch was stuff that ‘a marketeer’s dreams are made of’ and will no doubt see plenty of people rushing to watch the ITV2 show on catch-up.
