Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips faces up to six weeks on the sidelines after picking up a shoulder injury.

The 24-year-old suffered the setback in the narrow defeat against Wolves at Elland Road on Monday night.

Although surgery will not be needed, Phillips will now be absent for over a month.

A statement from the club said: ‘Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips suffered a shoulder injury in last night’s Premier League defeat to Wolves at Elland Road.

‘Whilst we are pleased to confirm that surgery is not required, the Leeds-born England international could still face up to six weeks on the sidelines.

‘Kalvin began his rehab at Thorp Arch this morning and will be working hard with the medical team to return to action as soon as possible.’

Phillips appeared in visible discomfort after the final whistle in Yorkshire after completing the full 90 minutes.

The defensive enforcer won Leeds a late free-kick in the game after going to ground but resurfaced holding his shoulder.  

The recently-capped England international has started all five of Leeds’ fixtures after helping them seal their long-awaited return to the top flight. 

He also played a part in all three of England’s clashes during the international break earlier this month.
