It is believed United’s director of football Victor Orta met with Klaesson and his representatives in Norway shortly before Casilla left the club; and the 20-year-old is expected to accept their offer.

The Norway Under-21 international has made over 50 appearances for Valarenga and is rated highly in his homeland.

He is set to be second choice behind Illan Meslier at Elland Road next season.

Leeds, who completed the signing of Chelsea’s Lewis Bate on Thursday, are also rivalling Crystal Palace and others for the loan signing of Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher.

Bate signed a three year deal with Marcelo Bielsa’s side and is set to link-up with the club’s Under-23’s for the forthcoming season.

The 18-year-old is the latest through the door at Elland Road following the arrivals of Junior Firpo, Jack Harrison, Sean McGurk and Amari Miller.

Leeds kick-off their Premier League campaign with a lunchtime kick-off at Manchester United on August 14.
