Lisa Wilkinson takes a VERY cheeky swing at Louis Vuitton live on The Project… after the luxury fashion brand releases a $50k handbag shaped like a PLANE

Luxury fashion brand Louis Vuitton divided opinion this week, after releasing a handbag shaped like a plane with a price tag of just under $51,000.

And someone who certainly isn’t a fan of the pricey purse is The Project host Lisa Wilkinson, who openly mocked the bag live on Thursday evening’s show.

After showing a news reel of the expensive Fall/Winter 2021 Airplane Bag by designer Virgil Abloh, Lisa, 61, brazenly said: ‘There surely are cheaper ways to show the world you’re a w**ker?’

Cheeky! The Project host Lisa Wilkinson couldn’t help but take a cheeky swipe at fashion brand Louis Vuitton, after they released a handbag shaped like an airplane with a price tag of just under $51,000

After a sea of laughter from her co-hosts, Waleed Aly added: ‘But if you spend that much, then you’re like… a level of w**ker above.’

Peter Helliar added: ‘You could almost buy Virgin Australia with that to be honest!

‘It gets real awkward when the escape slides inflate, that could really catch you out. The conversations that black box would catch though! That would be interesting to hear…’

Pricey: The controversial bag is priced at £28,210 - or AUD$50,792

Former AFL star Tony Armstrong was quick to add: ‘I don’t know what to think, that’s just so dumb.

‘They’re just laughing their way to the bank. You’ve just made a plane handbag. That’s a joke!’

The controversial bag is priced at £28,210 – or AUD$50,792.

It was first shared on Twitter by Saint, and features everything from the engine nacelles and wings to stabilisers, which are covered with the dark, masculine Monogram Eclipse canvas.

Abloh’s pricey Fall/Winter 2021 line is inspired by the tourist vs. purist archetypes, which are contrasting masculine stereotypes.

‘It’s my organising principle for my point of view when I make things,’ Abloh said, speaking to Vogue in January.

‘A tourist is someone who’s eager to learn, who wants to see the Eiffel Tower when they come to Paris. The purist is the person who knows everything about everything.’
