Terrifying vision of an attempted home invasion by masked intruders emerges as police link suspects to a major drug bust

Terrifying footage of masked intruders involved in a failed 2022 home invasion has been linked to a drug investigation in which police seized $75,000 worth of methylamphetamine.

Following investigations into the supply of methylamphetamine in the Lithgow area in the NSW Central Tablelands, police charged a 31-year-old man they allegedly found with 150g of methylamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia in his car.

The man was stopped on Parker Street in Kingswood in Sydney‘s west about 1.40pm on December 28 when the discovery was made.

He was subsequently taken to Penrith Police Station and charged with supplying an indictable quantity of a prohibited drug and possessing instructions for the manufacture of a prohibited drug.

The man is next due to appear at Penrith Local Court on April 14.

During inquiries into the alleged drug offences, police were made aware of an attempted home invasion on Laurence Street in Lithgow.

Three masked men armed with a shotgun and machete tried to force entry through the home’s back door at about 2am on November 9, 2022.

CCTV captured the horrifying attempts to kick and beat the door down while a man was inside the property.

When they were unsuccessful the group fled the scene on foot.

Detectives later executed a search warrant at the home and spoke to a 50-year-old man and a 28-year-old-woman before uncovering a number of items, including a sawn-off shotgun, a pistol and a magazine, all of which will undergo forensic examination.

The terrifying CCTV footage has been released by detectives to help identify the masked intruders.

No arrests have been made in relation to the home invasion or the items seized during the search warrant.
