Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson ruled out for the season but Jurgen Klopp says he has ‘a chance’ of making the Euros with England
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson will not play again for his club this season but Jurgen Klopp says the midfielder has a chance of making it back for Euro 2020.
Speaking at his Wednesday press conference, Klopp said of his captain’s groin issue: ‘Hendo’s injury is completely different.
‘He’s not training or playing at the moment so it’s a decision taken by Gareth (Southgate) and Hendo. I think there’s a chance (he plays at the Euros) for sure. Unfortunately, not for us but for England.’

Henderson, 30, sustained the injury in February’s defeat against Everton at Anfield and his absence for the rest of the campaign is a blow to Liverpool’s slender hopes of finishing in the top four.
The news comes on the day another influential Liverpool player in Virgil van Dijk ruled himself out of this summer’s tournament with Holland.
Van Dijk was left crocked with an ACL injury from a wild challenge by Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford back in October.
Klopp said: ‘With Virgil it’s one of the most serious injuries you can get. I don’t know how it came up that he had a chance for the Euros because of the average length of recovery.
‘It’s going really well and the plan is for us to have him back for pre-season and even that is not sure. Euros were in the wrong moment but good news for Holland and when he is fit, because we cannot force it, it will be 100 per cent and the next big tournament for Holland is coming.
‘We have to be patient. For a player the start of rehab is really tough, pain like crazy, you’re worrying.
‘You then make steps and you get more positive. Now it takes the pressure off Virgil and he can focus on right things.’
