Location, Location, Location: Viewers SLAM couple for complaining they ‘don’t have enough money’

Location Location Location viewers slammed a couple with a £950,000 budget for moaning they didn’t have enough money to buy what they wanted – before complaining that a house they could afford was ‘too big.’

In last night’s episode of the Channel 4 show, presenters Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer were in Edinburgh helping development and training coach Zoe and financial advisor Jason, who had returned home after living and working in Hong Kong for ten years, to find their dream home.

But despite a healthy budget of £950,000 to spend – £850,000 of which was in cash – they were determined to find a four-bed property in their preferred area of Stockbridge, where all they could afford was a flat.

And viewers were left unimpressed by the couple, who have two daughters, when after viewing a £825,000 flat Zoe let out a huge sigh and moaned they didn’t have enough money to buy what they wanted.

‘That silly b*** has gone from sighing that she only has £950,000 budget (£850,000 of it in CASH) to buy a house, to moaning that a house she can afford is too big. Honestly, some folk,’ wrote one, while a second penned: ‘How do you have £850,000 in cash but then sigh cos you “don’t have the money to buy what we want”? Jesus Christ love.’

Speaking of what they were hoping to find, Zoe, who wanted a place close-by to their daughters’ school, explained: ‘Four bedroom, the kitchen-diner, the Georgian features – those nice high ceilings.

Iris would love a dog and so a garden would be great for that, while Amelia definitely wants her own stairs and front door.’

First up, the couple were taken to see a five-bed two-storey Victorian upper-flat, with offers asking over £625,000

Light and bright throughout, the bay-fronted reception room was packed with the period features they loved, while a contemporary kitchen-diner also offered the family space they were after.

However, it was the stairs that lead down to the leafy garden shared with next door that was off-putting for the couple.

‘I’m not sure about a shared garden,’ said Zoe. ‘There’s no space for Iris to have a trampoline.’

Next, the couple were taken to Comely Bank, where properties don’t come cheap, meaning their budget could only buy them a flat.

Presenter Phil took them to see a Victorian ground-floor garden property at £825,000, which featured a reception room upstairs which boasted all of the original features, while downstairs had an impressive kitchen-diner.

It flowed out to the private south-west facing garden, while the four good-sized bedrooms were spread across the two floors.

But due to the flow of the house, Zoe commented: ‘It just feels a bit odd – to me it’s about whether we can make it work.’

Letting out a sigh, she complained: ‘Do we want a house? The things we’re finding wrong with them is because they’re flats. It’s just because we don’t have enough money to buy what we want.’

And the comment didn’t go down well with those who tuned in.

‘Offers over £815K for a flat in Edinburgh. We don’t have enough money to buy what we want!’ wrote one, while a second commented: ‘Don’t you ever do any episodes for joe average with a normal budget. Say under 200k.. I mean £850k cash!! Seems to of become a show for flamboyant rich a****’

Elsewhere, Phil also took the couple to see a property in Ravelston.

Asking for offers over £915,000 and with more than 3,000sq ft of floor space, the building was packed to the rafters with the character they adore.

Set over three floors, it featured five double bedrooms, while the middle floor boasted the most breathtaking reception room and a family bathroom.

The ground floor had a second reception room, or perfect TV room for the girls, while the parents could choose between the kitchen, breakfast and dining rooms at the back, while doors lead onto a private south-facing garden and roof terrace.

‘It’s not necessarily too big, it’s maybe about how you use the room but it’s a bit like jeepers, do I need this much house in my life?’ said Zoe.

‘It’s an amazing house. It’s almost too much space, you know?’

One frustrated viewer vented: ‘Now there is too much space – FFS!’ while a second penned, ‘Too much space!! WTF!’

However, Phil did eventually come up trumps with a house in Blackhall, which offered the couple the potential to create the forever home of their dreams.
