Lucky mum discovers she won $1.3MILLION in Gold Lotto

Lucky mum who thought she’d pocketed $1,300 in lotto is left shocked when she discovers she won $1.3MILLION: ‘I went all jittery’

  • A mother thought she had won $1,300 in a lottery draw on Saturday
  • She then got a huge shock when she realised it was actually a $1.3million win
  • The woman said the money would be incredibly helpful ‘for her growing family’

A young mother was chuffed after thinking she had won $1,300 in a lotto draw, only to realise after taking a closer look that she’d actually scored $1.3million.

The woman from Mackay in North Queensland had one of four division one winning entries in Saturday’s Gold Lotto draw, with the other three also taking home the same amount.

‘I checked my ticket online yesterday, I thought I’d won $1,300, and I was delighted,’ the woman told a Lott official who called her on Monday morning.

‘But I kept looking at the ticket, and I saw all the numbers lit up in a line. I realised I’d won $1.3 million, not $1,300,’ she said.

‘I went all jittery.’

The woman explained she had been waiting by the phone to have her win confirmed after struggling to believe it.

‘Hubby was down at the shops getting some lunch, and he didn’t take his phone, so I had to wait for him to come back to break the news.’

‘When he finally got back, I broke the news to him, and he started shaking so much. We were so happy!

The young mother said the couple had a bottle of champagne in the fridge they had been saving and immediately popped it open to celebrate the win.

‘It’s come at the best time for us and will make a tremendous difference to our lives.’

‘We want to use the prize to help our growing family and save the rest for our future retirements.’

She told the Lott official she might ‘even make some bacon and eggs to continue the celebration’ after having her good fortune confirmed.

News Central co-owner Simon Pastega sold the winning ticket and revealed the have sold a few recently.

‘Isn’t it great news… We’ve already had two division one wins in just three weeks. So, we want to make it a hat trick and have a third division one win soon,’ he said.

‘Last year, we also sold a $50 million winning ticket in Powerball’

‘It’s fantastic news for the entire Mackay community. It’ll undoubtedly create a buzz around town.’

Of the four division one winning entries in Saturday’s Gold Lotto two were from New South Wales and one each from Queensland and Victoria.
