Major iOS outage sees dozens of apps crash for frustrated Apple users

Major iOS outage sees dozens of apps crash for frustrated Apple users including Spotify, Facebook, TikTok, Tinder and Pinterest

Apple apps including Spotify and MailOnline are crashing on phones across the world amid the roll-out of the latest ioS software.

Mass outages have been reported with the popular music streaming service while iPhone users are also complaining about Facebook, Tik Tok and Pinterest not working.

The spike in complaints coincided with the beta launch of ioS 14, although it is not yet clear if downloading the new software triggered the crashes.

Experts pointed to a bug in Facebook’s software development kit (SDK) which is grinding mobile apps to a halt.

Facebook said this morning on its developer platform: ‘We are aware and investigating an increase in errors on the iOS SDK which is causing some apps to crash.’

The Down Detector website which tracks reported issues for each major app logged a surge in over 12,000 complaints for Spotify today, with much of the outages concentrated in Europe
