Malmo defender Anel Ahmedhodzic has seen a move to Chelsea blocked by his own agent, according to the player’s father.

The 21-year-old centre-back, who started his career with Nottingham Forest, has attracted interest from the Blues after some strong displays in defence for the Swedish outfit.

But the Bosnia and Herzegovina international’s father Mirsad has slammed Ahmedhodzic’s representative Markus Rosenberg – a former West Brom striker – for scuppering a transfer to Stamford Bridge.

He told Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia that the centre-back would not be joining

Former West Brom striker Markus Rosenberg (L) told Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia (R) that the centre-back would not be joining the Blues, he claimed

He claimed Rosenberg has not made arrangements for him to seal a move away from Malmo and ‘doesn’t have the contacts’.

‘He’s [Rosenberg] not doing his job,’ he said, as reported by the Sun. ‘He has told Marina [Granovskaia] at Chelsea that Anel is not going there.

‘He wants to go abroad after the season finishes.

‘He also believes that Italian agent Fredrico Pastorelli has been in talks with several club across Europe to make a deal happen for Ahmedhodzic.

‘Markus hasn’t arranged this, he doesn’t have the contacts. I have tried to inform Markus that Pastorello wants to cooperate with him.

Chelsea were willing to spend around £7m on Ahmedhodzic and offer him a five-year deal, according to the Sun.

The Sweden-born star, who has played 41 times for Malmo and has two caps for Bosnia, does not seem to appreciate his father’s intervention, claiming he is ‘very disappointed’ as he hit back at his lack of ‘support’.

‘I can start by saying that I am very disappointed,’ he told Swedish outlet Kvallspoten.

‘To write such things on social media and call other people idiots, not to support me.

‘I have always felt a love for him. But I have not felt any support, he has not supported me in the right way.

‘Especially not now when things are going so well for me.’

Defence is an area Chelsea have been looking to strengthen after Lampard’s men were guilty of some errors at the back last season. The club brought in two defenders this summer – Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva – to plug the holes, while goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has also come in.

Ahmedhodzic started his youth career with Malmo before heading to the City Ground in 2016. He made just one appearance for Forest before he returned to his boyhood side last year.

He was initially loaned to Hobro IK in the Danish Superliga but has since become first choice at the club – featuring 38 times in the 2020 season.
