Man, 19, is arrested after a body is found in leafy village of Ashley in Cheshire 

  • A 19-year-old man from the Knutsford area has been arrested and is in custody
  • The deceased is yet to be identified and the death is considered suspicious 
  •  Murder is thought to have happened on a road between thick hedges 

A 19-year-old man has been arrested after a body was found in a Cheshire village.

Cheshire Police said the body was discovered on Ashley Mill Lane, Ashley, at approximately 7.52 am on Friday.

The person is yet to be identified and the death is being treated as suspicious, the force said.

On arrival Cheshire police set up a cordon on Ashley Mill Lane close to a farm. Several Police vehicles can be seen stationed close to where the body was found

 A 19-year-old man from the Knutsford area has been arrested and is being questioned by officers.

In a statement, the force told the Manchester Evening News: ‘At 7.52am on Friday, December 13, police received a report of a body found on Ashley Mill Lane in Ashley.

‘Officers are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and the identification of the individual.’

A police cordon was set up this morning on a stretch of road that runs through thick woodland with parallel fields.    

Police did not give any further details about his arrest.
