Man City have the BEST league record of any side left in the Champions League since group stage

REVEALED: Manchester City have the BEST league record of any side left in the Champions League since the group stage ended… but which European giants are struggling for form ahead of the knockout stages?

  • Manchester City have won 35 Premier League points from 39 since December 9
  • They are closely followed in the list by Barcelona who have 32 points from 36
  • Borussia Dortmund sit bottom of the pile given their recent Bundesliga struggles
  • Chelsea and Liverpool also sit near the bottom despite the Blues’ recent upturn

Manchester City have gained the most points of any side left in the Champions League in their domestic league since the conclusion of the group stages, Mundo Deportivo have revealed.

The first set of matches in this season’s Champions League knockout stages begin on Tuesday evening with the remaining 16 teams putting out all the stops in search of European glory.

But it is Pep Guardiola‘s men – who will face Borussia Moenchengladbach – who come into the round of 16 in the best domestic form having claimed 35 Premier League points from a possible 39 since their final group game against Marseille.

Guardiola’s side have won 11 of the 13 top-flight matches they have played since facing the French side on December 9, with the other two fixtures resulting in stalemates against Manchester United and West Brom.

City are closely followed by Guardiola’s former club Barcelona, with Ronald Koeman’s side having won 32 points from a possible 36 in LaLiga since their 3-0 humbling against Juventus at Camp Nou in early December.

Barcelona are back in European action on home soil on Tuesday evening against Paris Saint-Germain, who despite their Ligue 1 dominance over the last decade they sit just eighth in the list after taking 26 points from a possible 36 in a run which has included two defeats.
