A man at the centre of a dramatic police chase after he allegedly stole a car has been captured on camera downing a drink in front of officers moments before his arrest.
Police were following the man’s movements after attempting to pull over a vehicle about 10:20pm on Sunday on Mandurah Road in Madora Bay, southwest of Perth – but he allegedly failed to stop.
The Holden Colorado utility police were chasing after was allegedly stolen from nearby Barragup.

The man laid on the ground as he was surrounded by police on Old Pinjarra Road in Greenfields, southwest of Perth, on Sunday night
Police called in aerial support as the vehicle travelled through several streets.
The 43-year-old man later abandoned the car on Old Pinjarra Road in Greenfields, with footage from the police helicopter showing him running from the vehicle.
He was then seen going back to the car and grabbing a drink, which he drunk before officers closed in.
Two officers drew their weapons as the man threw his arms in the air, before laying on the ground.
The man was charged with multiple offences, including two counts of stealing a motor vehicle, two counts of having no authority to drive and failure to stop.
He was refused bail to appear before Perth Magistrates Court on Monday.
