Manchester City backup goalkeeper Zack Steffen makes shaky start to Premier League debut… bizarrely picking up a back-pass after just four minutes against Chelsea as he stands-in for self-isolating Ederson

  • The Citizens had five players ruled-out in self isolation, including Ederson 
  • American keeper Zack Steffen stepped-in to make his Premier League debut 
  • The 25-year-old had a rocky start to the match, picking-up a back-pass early on 

Manchester City‘s Covid-19 outbreak almost cost them instantly against Chelsea, with stand-in keeper Zack Steffen baffling his team-mates by picking up a back-pass.

Five of Pep Guardiola’s stars were forced to watch the Stamford Bridge clash from their homes in self-isolation, including Kyle Walker, Gabriel Jesus and Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson.

American stopper Steffen stood-in for the clash, and was in trouble just four minutes into the clash – picking up a back-pass and gifting the Blues a free-kick.
