Marco Asensio has reportedly threaten to leave Real Madrid after feeling ‘provoked’ by Carlo Ancelotti.

The Spaniard featured heavily under Zinedine Zidane last season, featuring 35 times for Los Blancos.

However, game time under new boss Carlo Ancelotti has been hard to come by with the Italian only giving Asensio 69 minutes this campaign to impress.

Having hoped for consistent minutes under Ancelotti, Asensio reached boiling point at the weekend when he was left as an unused substitute in Real’s 2-1 win over Valencia, causing him to ‘explode’ after feeling ‘provoked’ by his manager, according to Spanish news outlet Sport.

The report goes on to claim how Asensio is ‘not happy withe role he has under Ancelotti’ and has pushed for a move away from the club once the transfer window reopens in January.

Asensio was reportedly given the chance to move away from the Bernabeu earlier this summer, with Tottenham and Liverpool both interested in the 25-year-old.

Sport even claimed that Spurs made a ‘very important offer’ to sign him, and would be open to pursuing the forward in the new year. Liverpool and AC Milan would also be interested in signing the winger.

Asensio currently has just under two years left on his deal with Real Madrid and could be sold if the player requested to leave.

The Spain international’s frustration at a lack of minutes has not gone unnoticed by Ancelotti, who claimed on Tuesday that it is a ‘normal’ and ‘good’ reaction.

‘It’s normal that those who aren’t playing aren’t happy,’ Ancelotti said.

‘If Marco Asensio or Isco or Luka Jovic aren’t happy with not playing then that’s normal, that’s good. But, Asensio, Isco and Jovic are training well. Asensio, Isco and Jovic will have minutes.

‘I have to evaluate the condition of the players who have played. I’m thinking about making some changes [in the next match], but I need to see [Tuesday’s] training session first. But yes, we’re thinking about making some changes. It’s difficult to pick the line-ups.’
