Married At First Sight fans rally behind bride Melissa Rawson after she makes the stunning revelation she hasn’t been in a relationship for 12 years

Married At First Sight bride Melissa Rawson was jittery at the prospect of telling new husband Bryce Ruthven she’s been single for 12 years. 

And while Melissa nervously told him during their reception – she quickly gained the support of fans on social media.  

Twitter erupted with viewers supportive of the nervous blonde bride, even identifying with her lacklustre dating story.

Another added: ‘Melissa’s story would be relatable for so many people I hope this works out for her.’ 

‘She’s a great girl Melissa, with a pure heart. I hope he looks after her,’ wrote a third. 

A number of people also compared the couple to Jules Robinson and Cam Merchant, one of the series most successful couples in the series.

During the reception, Melissa said: ‘It’s been a while since I’ve been in a relationship.’ 

Bryce replied: ‘How long?’ Only for Melissa to say: ‘I don’t want to shock you.’ 

After being pressed she admitted it had been 12 years. 

Bryce said: ‘Oh well. People are different,’ before admitting he was engaged six-months ago.

Bryce’s admission made Melissa nervous with her questioning if he was over his previous relationship which lasted five years.  

Prior to the wedding, Melissa spoke of her nervousness at revealing her lack of a dating history to her new groom.

‘I expect he might be shocked and that might be a red flag for him,’ she said.

‘I honestly never thought I would get married…ever. Have never even contemplated having a wedding day,’ she said. 

‘So I’m going from zero to hundred. I’m going to just be completely honest and open and give it everything that I have. And not let my insecurities and my shyness take over.’
