Martha Stewart reigns as the queen of Christmas with her 95th cookbook Cookie Perfection

Over the years the name Martha Stewart has become as synonymous with the holidays as candy canes and mistletoe.

This season, the domestic goddess and business mogul is serving up some of Santa’s favorites in her newest cookbook Cookie Perfection.

DailyMailTV’s senior correspondent Alicia Quarles got the opportunity to have a hands-on baking lesson from the lifestyle icon as they whipped up cookies from her exceptional 95th cookbook.

‘You want your cookies, each bite just to be perfect,’ Martha said. ‘And the recipes work beautifully.’

‘They’re easy,’ she added. ‘Everything from the French macaron, to the sandwich cookies.’

Cookie Perfection is the final word on all things cookies and, along with the editors of Martha Stewart Living, the book ups the ante on go-to recipes, making them ‘even better and bolder.’

While there are plenty of Christmas options like Brown-Butter Crinkle Cookies and Snowball Truffles in Cookie Perfection, Martha has you covered the rest of the year with things like Carrot Cake Thumbprint Cookies, Stroopwafels and Easter Egg Puzzle Cookies.

Martha even tackled one of the most polarizing Christmas confections, fruit cake, and found a way to amp it up into a delectable cookie.

‘Well, fruitcake is one of my favorite cakes, but it’s really heavy and old fashioned,’ she told Alicia. ‘It’s a bad rap … but make it into a cookie and bathe it in chocolate.’

During their demo, Martha showed DailyMailTV how to make her festive Flower-Embellished Wreath Cookies as well as some Pastel Butter Cookies.

The key when it comes to baking, the pro explained, is to approach the recipe like a scientist.

‘Baking is an exact science,’ Martha said. ‘It’s not like cooking where you can sort of finagle ingredients. You must follow the instructions. Don’t go too far off the grid for your cookie recipe.’

While Martha has likely baked thousands of cookies and created countless cookie recipes over the years, her love of the handheld treats comes from her mom.

‘I’ve been baking cookies with mom for a very, very long time,’ she revealed. ‘My mother was a really great baker and because we had six kids in the family, cookies were a big treat.’

Stewart said she actually curated a lot of her recipes from her mom who had been collecting them throughout her life.

One of her absolute favorites from her mother is a cookie with almonds in it that gets dusted in confectioners sugar. She recalled, however, that one year she was duped by a fake.

‘My brothers one year made a spoof on the cookie and they made it out of plaster of Paris. So when you bit into it, a bunch of plaster just poured out of your mouth,’ she recalled with a laugh. ‘It was horrible.’

Luckily for the crowd that gathered for the baking demo with DailyMailTV, everything there was pure Martha, down to the decor and even the utensils which were from her Martha Stewart Collection at Macy’s.

For those hosting this season, on top of having a perfect tray of cookies, Martha’s big tip is to have a great libation at the ready.

‘If you serve your guests a really good drink, a really good cocktail it breaks the ice,’ the hosting guru advised. ‘You will have a happy crowd and they won’t feel like they just have to slug down a bunch of stuff they can sip it into and savor it.

She adds: ‘I think it really does make a good party.’

As for Martha’s go-to festive cocktail? She is an eggnog gal.
