Supergirl returns! Melissa Benoist is spotted back on the set in her sculpted suit… after giving birth to her first child last year

Melissa Benoist was seen on the Vancouver set of the hit CW show Supergirl on Thursday afternoon. 

The 32-year-old actress filmed scenes her costar David Harewood, as the appeared to be cracking jokes between takes.

This is the first time Benoist has been pictured on the set of the DC Comics-based show since giving birth to her first son in September of last year.

Benoist was dressed in the titular character’s costume, which clung comfortably to her toned post-baby body.

Her beautiful blond hair contrasted perfectly with her bodysuit’s striking blue shade, as well as her boots and cape’s red color. 

The actress’ costar was also in costume as Cyborg Superman, and his costume served to highlight his impressive frame.

Supergirl premiered in 2015 and was originally broadcast on CBS before moving to The CW before the debut of its second season.

Although Benoist was the first actress considered for the role of Supergirl, Gemma Atkinson and Claire Holt were also in the running for the part.

The series is currently filming its sixth and final season, which is set to premiere later this year at an unspecified date.

Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch, who both appeared in several episodes of Supergirl, reprise their roles as the titular characters in Superman And Lois, which premiered in February.

It is not known if Benoist will reprise her role in the new DC Comics-based series.

The actress’ appearance on set marks the first time she has been seen in costume since the birth of her first child.

The performer made the announcement through her Instagram account last September and revealed that her son’s name was Huxley Robert Wood.

In the post’s caption, the Whiplash actress mentioned that her new child was ‘everything’ to her. 

Benoist’s child is her first with her husband and fellow Supergirl actor Chris Wood; the couple tied the knot in 2019.

Prior to becoming involved with her current husband, the actress was married to her Glee costar Blake Jenner; the couple finalized their divorce in 2017.
