Micah Downey death: Mother-in-law’s chilling last words on Bride and Prejudice

The mother of Bride and Prejudice star Milly Johnson warned that her daughter’s troubled ex-fiancé, Micah Downey, was on a path of self-destruction in scenes that aired just weeks before the young man’s sudden death at the age of 26 last month.

After Milly, 23, tearfully called off her wedding to Micah – who had a drug problem but refused to go to rehab on the show – her mother, Catherine Johnson, said he ‘couldn’t be saved’.

‘You’re sad now, but you’re better off. You know you’re not his saviour. Honey, you’re not going to save him,’ Catherine began.

‘He’s got to save himself and you can’t marry someone because you feel sorry for them. He needs to prove himself and he hasn’t.’

The haunting scene aired in Australia on November 11, just six weeks before Mr Downey died on December 28, after moving back to California.

It is believed the scene was filmed in early May.

Milly – who has a son with Micah and is pregnant with his second child – announced his passing on Tuesday. The cause of death unknown.

Channel Seven has since removed all three seasons of Bride and Prejudice from its streaming platform, 7plus, and has also taken the show’s homepage.

Bride and Prejudice’s Facebook page has also removed all videos of Micah’s journey on the show. Other clips in which he is not featured can still be watched.

A Seven spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia on Wednesday: ‘These were removed out of respect during this very difficult time.’

Milly and Micah went on Bride and Prejudice to repair their troubled relationship – due in part to his recreational drug use – but they split before walking down the aisle.

Milly’s mother described Micah a ‘drug addict’ on the show. During one memorable confrontation, he refused to go to rehab when she asked him to.

‘If I wanted to, I could go and find any drug in the world right now. That’s all there is to it. If I want it, it’ll happen – if I don’t, it won’t,’ he said.

He said rehab was ‘pointless’ and clarified that he had passed a recent drug test.

In another scene, Micah said he couldn’t see himself ‘ever stopping’ smoking cannabis, despite the fact his drug use was destroying his relationship.

Announcing her ex-fiancé’s death on Tuesday, Milly wrote on Instagram: ‘It is so sad and unbelievably surreal that I am making this post. On the 28 December 2019 Micah Patrick Downey passed away.

‘I am struggling to put into words how sad and heartbreaking this is, I just hope he is at peace wherever he is and that he will always be watching over his babies.

‘A bad, bad dream. I can’t believe you’re not here. Rest in peace, Micah.’

Micah had a son, Julian, as well as another child on the way with Milly before his sudden death.

The couple had cut all ties while filming Bride and Prejudice and Micah had moved back to America.
