Mike Tyson has claimed he will take on Lennox Lewis in September in what would be a huge rematch between the former heavyweight stars.

Tyson made his highly-anticipated return to the ring against Roy Jones Jr last year and has since declared his interest in setting up further lucrative exhibition bouts – including against old foe Evander Holyfield.

But speaking to TMZ, Iron Mike said he had agreed to take on undisputed heavyweight champion Lewis later on this year, simply saying: ‘I’m gonna fight Lennox Lewis. September.’

Tyson was knocked out by Lewis when they last fought in 2002, with the British star handing the American his fourth career defeat while confirming his name as the top heavyweight fighter in the world.

The Baddest Man on the Planet famously delivered a boastful rant before he fought Lewis, bizarrely claiming he wanted to ‘eat his children’ and declaring himself as ‘impregnable’ and ‘the best ever’.

‘I’m the best ever,’ he said before the fight. ‘I’m the most brutal and vicious, and most ruthless champion there’s ever been.

‘There’s no one can stop me. Lennox is a conqueror? No, I’m the best ever.

‘There’s never been anybody as ruthless. There’s no one like me. There’s no one that can match me.

‘My style is impetuous, my defence is impregnable, and I’m just ferocious. I want your heart. I want to eat his children’

In February Lewis said he would consider fighting Tyson again after watching him make his return to the ring against Jones Jr, but only if ‘the public wanted it’.

‘If the public wanted it then we would probably talk,’ he told TMZ. I don’t know. I don’t really have nothing pushing me in the ring right now.

‘People would love to see that fight but I don’t know.’
