A nine-year-old Tennessee boy missing for two days has been found under a makeshift shelter he built himself with tarpaulin and sticks.

Jordan Gorman was last seen on Sunday morning at his home in Ashland City, near Nashville, Tennessee.

After multiple law enforcement search teams scoured the heavily wooded area near Jordan’s home, he was found on Tuesday afternoon about three-quarters of a mile away, according to The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).

Rescuers found Jordan near a small stream under a makeshift shelter he built with a piece of blue tarpaulin he had discovered and two large sticks. He was barefoot and without a jacket, officials said.

‘Cold and hungry, but otherwise in pretty good spirits! Good to see you, Jordan,’ the TBI said in a tweet.

During his time outside, Jordan endured temperatures as low as 37 degrees Fahrenheit (three degrees Celsius), according to the National Weather Service.

‘He knew just to stay put and somebody would come,’ his father Aaron Hatt told WSMV

Jordan was medically evaluated after his ordeal and police are still working to piece together a timeline of his disappearance and understand why it happened, officials said.

‘I couldn’t have survived that,’ Cheatham County Sheriff Mike Breedlove said during a press conference, according to The Tennessean. ‘We are so relieved. The odds were so against us, and then this miracle happens.’
