Mother shares simple mac and cheese hack for kids that people are calling ‘smart as hell’ and a ‘game changer’
A mother has shared a time and money-saving snack hack for hungry children, and fellow parents are calling it ‘smart as hell’.
Violet Ann Whitlach from South Carolina, posted her trick to Facebook page Mommy Needs A Recipe!! to help other parents who might be in the same predicament as her.
Explaining that her daughter loves mac and cheese, she added that her favorite is an expensive brand that often goes to waste because she never finishes the whole box.
So the savvy mother buys family sized box, which she cuts into cubes and freezes, so she can dole out small portions whenever her daughter is hungry.
Violet Ann suggested to fans they should cut a tray of macaroni and cheese into cubes and popping them out to store in the freezer
Explaining her trick, the mother wrote: ‘Not a recipe but a hack of sorts.
‘My little one LOVES Mac n cheese and asks for it everyday so on top of everything else I cook.
‘I make her a box every day but being a kid she never finishes the whole box so always waste.’
She went on to say that her daughter’s favorite brand of mac and cheese is Stouffer’s but it usually costs from around $8 a pack, so it can get quite expensive.
Ms Whitlach advised people to keep the cubes in a freezer-safe bag so they could easily be accessed when needed
The savvy mom said it had saved her a fortune after she used to make a batch for her child but it would never get eaten and wasted
‘I got tired of baking it and then it going bad before it’s finished, especially cause it’s not cheap,’ she explained, ‘[so] I came up with a solution.
‘[I] Bought a family size Stouffer’s Mac n cheese and cut into a bunch of cubes and freeze.
‘So now I can pop out 2-3 cubes and cook in microwave for a few minutes and she has a fresh bowl of Mac n cheese in minutes and best part..no waste!’
The post quickly racked up over 7,000 likes, 500 comments and nearly 1,000 shares.
