Mum left devastated after baker makes a bright blue cake for her son’s christening

Mum is left in tears after the cake that arrives for her son’s christening looks VERY different to the one she ordered – so what would you do?

An Australian mum has been left furious after a baker’s failed attempt at a cake for her son’s Christening.

The Sydney woman had sent over a picture of a three-tiered, flower-stamped cake for inspiration asking for the same grey-blue, sage and pearly white colour scheme.

She asked for the baker to leave off the flowers and that the cake be made of just one tall tier – but was devastated with the final product.

The single tiered cake was aqua and sky blue with clumsy chunks of gold leafing stuck on at random intervals and peaks of butter cream icing on the top.

‘I am in tears,’ she wrote,’ sharing the pictures.

And cake lovers on the party-themed Facebook page agreed the cake she ordered and the cake she got were nothing alike.

‘There is no way they looked at the first pic then made that second cake and thought ‘yep spot on’,’ one woman said, asking if the mum was sure she had been given the right cake.

‘These cakes aren’t even cousins. What the hell was this cake maker blind drunk? I hope you got a refund,’ another woman fumed.

Others demanded why she paid for the cake if it wasn’t to her liking but she admitted she ‘panicked’ because she didn’t have time to get another one.

‘I couldn’t think clearly and now I regret it,’ she said when someone asked if she had paid for the cake.

The cake maker had sent her the photo of the dessert with a gold leaf filter on it – the same picture she shared online.

Would you accept this cake?

One woman told the mum to try not to worry about the mix up, revealing she had once spent thousands of dollars on a party for her son only for the cake to be a disaster.

‘The one thing I have learned after far too many instances of ‘cake stress’ is that it’s just a cake. Don’t want to take away from what you’re feeling because these two cakes are not alike, but just breathe,’ she said.

Some tried to offer advice on how to change the cake.

‘I’d get a spatula out and take the piping off and some of the gold flakes,’ one mum said.

‘I would take the gold foil off and the swirls and use it to mix some icing that is darker a bit of white and black to make grey,’ another woman suggested.

The mum was further frustrated by the cake maker because the woman wouldn’t concede there was a problem with the cake.

Other cake makers said the baker responsible for making the cake had posted a picture of the cake asking for tips and tricks to improve her work.

She had also heard the customer was unhappy and tried defending herself on the other pages and said the cake was exactly as it should be.
