Muslim PwD action plan developed to enhance understanding in Islam

CYBERJAYA: The Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) has developed the Muslim Persons with Disabilities (PWD) Action Plan to enhance their understanding and appreciation of Islam.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar (pix) said the plan was developed to support the National PwD Action Plan and the existing National PwD Policy under the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry.

He said Jakim has collaborated with state Islamic councils and departments, ministries, and related agencies to gather ideas and perspectives to ensure a comprehensive and integrated implementation of the plan.

“The support system for PWDs must be enhanced, and efforts to raise awareness about this group among the public need the support of various parties, especially Islamic agencies and institutions,“ he said in his speech during the ‘Penerapan Sejarah 25 Rasul Melalui Digital Kreatif’ programme, here today.

On the programme, Mohd Na’im said presenting the history of prophets and messengers through visual graphics can offer valuable learning experiences for both children with and without autism. –Bernama
