‘My weight started to spiral’: Busy mother reveals how the 70/30 approach overhauled her health

A busy mother-of-two has revealed how turning to a meal delivery service has helped her keep track of her weight while still being able to treat herself.

Whitney, known as The Wife Life on Instagram, from Australia participated in the Youfoodz 70/30 program for four weeks.

‘Eating was my biggest downfall before starting this lifestyle change. I would eat whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted, like hot chips and creamy frappes,’ she said.

‘I saw my weight starting to spiral. I knew what I was doing was wrong. I knew it would get worse if I didn’t do anything about it.’

When she came across the 70/30 weight-loss movement she instantly felt like it would work for her.

The Youfoodz 70/30 is based around dedicating 70 per cent of your weekly diet to clean and healthy Youfoodz meals and the other 30 per cent to whatever you want.

The prices start at $99 which provides you with five lunches and dinners, $129 covers that as well as snacks and the $149 complete plan covers you from breakfast through to dinner.

‘Whether I wanted to drink that glass of rosé, eat a $1 Mars Bar, or have some fresh bread from the bakery, I didn’t have to feel guilty,’ she said.

‘Life is so short, and I think it’s important to enjoy all of it!’

Some of the possible meals available are the 'Unbeetable Chicken & Broc'

Another favourite is the 'Healthy Spring Lasagne'

She said that just because she changed her diet it doesn’t mean she’s a ‘new Whitney’ and is in fact the same Whitney, just ‘healthier, happier and more balanced’.

‘I’ve started to love taking care of myself and accept all of me, inside and out,’ the mother said.

‘I’m sleeping better, thinking clearer, feeling stronger, and being the all-round best version of myself.’

She said there were a variety of reasons she loved the food delivery service, one being that she is able to choose her meal plan online.

Another added bonus was the fact that she never needed to make a trip to the supermarket as they delivered every meal, which is ideal for a mother running her kids to school and dance classes every day.

‘There are some great healthy alternatives to some of my favourite ‘naughty’ foods, like Mars Bars! I never felt like I was missing out,’ she said.

‘My favourite treat is the Chocolate Protein Powder; it satisfied my cravings for a frappe like you wouldn’t believe! And it was super simple, with a scoop of protein powder, handful of ice cubes, skim milk, and blend together.’

After following the 70/30 diet for four weeks Whitney said she was ‘a couple of kilos lighter, happier, and much more content in myself’.

Previously A Current Affair revealed that the convenience of weekly meal preparation kits delivered to your door complete with recipes are fast becoming a growing phenomenon.

They’re a popular option for many time-poor families with Aussie Farmers Direct, Pepper Leaf, Marley Spoon and Hello Fresh just some of the many other meal kit services out there.
