The National Weather service said the temperatures are set to rise today to over 90 degrees
‘It’s going to be gross outside,’ Accuweather meteorologist Brett Rossio told The New York Post on Sunday.
‘The dew point is going to surge in coming days, so it’s going to feel even worse,’ he said.
The National Weather Service in New York today said the temperatures will reach the 80s and low 90s this week.
‘The heat continues into the workweek with temperatures once again climbing into the 80s and low 90s,’ the NWS tweeted.
‘An isolated thunderstorm is possible this afternoon, especially north and west of NYC.’

The sweltering heat is expected to drop slightly to 87 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday before rain hits the city on Thursday due to a cold front from Canada, according to AccuWeather.
The temperatures are set to drop to below 70 degrees on Friday, but will rise to above 78 degrees on Sunday.
Governor Andrew Cuomo on Saturday urged New Yorkers to limit outdoor activity and check on their neighbors — especially young children and the elderly for whom extreme heat could be dangerous.
Over the weekend, thousands flocked to Coney Island Beach to swim and stay cool as the temperatures soared.
A sea of brightly colored umbrellas were set up across the beach as New Yorkers tried to find some shade.
Heat Advisories are in place across portions of the Northeast states through Monday due to the combination of hot temperatures and high humidity.
‘I just came from Florida for 10 days and the hot there is not as bad as the hot here,’ local resident Yvonne Johnson, 42, told the Post.
‘Here, it’s humidity with the heat. It’s more miserable here.’
‘That’s why I bought the Icee, because it’s hot and my mouth is dry and this heat is dangerous.’
Another resident, Marty Jones said: ‘I’m doing what I’m doing, sitting in the shade and drinking lots of water. I’m trying to move as little as possible.’
