Newell’s Old Boys midfielder Pablo Perez destroyed a drone carrying a banner that mocked his team just three minutes into the side’s Rosario derby against Rosario Central.
The incident, which Perez was booked for, happened just three minutes into the game. The drone flew into Newell’s Old Boys’ penalty area and was initially carried away from Rosario Central’s Lucas Gamba.
But Perez took matters into his own hands and stamped on the drone before throwing the match ball on to it, which he was booked for.
The Rosario derby between Newell’s Old Boys and Rosario Central was fiercely contested
The banner appeared to be from Rosario Central fans as it roughly translated to ‘I eliminated you with a bang and I was champion’.
The other side of the banner referred to various moments in the history between the sides – a derby that was first played between them 115 years ago.
To make matters worse for Newell’s Old Boys, they lost 3-0 thanks to goals from Marco Ruben, Nicolas Ferreyra and Luca Martinez. It’s been a tough campaign for the side so far, having won just two of their first 13 games.
Perez, who has one cap for Argentina, was born in Rosario and is in his second stint at Newell’s Old Boys.
