Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has no concerns over Anthony Martial’s recent form after another poor display in Manchester United’s draw at West Brom as he backs ‘class’ Frenchman to start scoring again soon

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has backed misfiring striker Anthony Martialwho suffered racist abuse after a 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion – to rediscover his form and shooting boots.

Martial, 25, scored 23 goals in all competitions last season, including 17 in the Premier League, but has only managed four in the league so far this campaign.

He scored twice in a 9-0 win against Southampton – who finished the match with nine men – earlier this month but those are his only strikes in the last eight league games.

And when asked if he was concerned by the Frenchman’s form, Solskjaer gave a definitive answer. 

He told the United website: ‘No. I know Anto is working hard to get back to where he was. 

‘And he’ll score goals. His attitude is very good. 

‘Form is sometimes temporary but class is permanent. The kid’s got class.

‘So when he works hard, we know it’s going to come out with the good performances in the end.’

The 25-cap international is generally being played out wide on the left to accommodate Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani.

After facing Newcastle in between both Europa League round of 32 matches against Real Sociedad, the Red Devils face Chelsea and rivals Manchester City in a key test of their title bid.
