One British tourist is shot dead in Argentina

One British tourist is shot dead and a second is injured in armed robbery outside a five-star hotel in Argentina

  • Gunmen opened fire on the 35-year-old and another Briton, 28, in Buenos Aires 
  • The bullet hit the 35-year-old in the chest and possibly penetrated his lung 
  • The 28-year-old was shot in thigh or groin and is in serious condition in hospital 

A British holidaymaker has been shot dead in Argentina during an armed robbery outside a five-star hotel. 

Motorbike-riding gunmen opened fire on the 35-year-old and another Briton, 28, during a violent struggle in Buenos Aires in which the tourists refused to give up their possessions.

The bullet hit the 35-year-old in the right armpit before burying in his chest and possibly penetrating his lung, according to local media.

The 28-year-old was shot in the thigh or groin and is in serious condition in hospital. 

Both men were jumped outside the Faena Art Hotel at about 11am local time today. 

A picture from the scene shows a body slumped on the pavement while medics scramble to save his life.
