Greater Manchester Police were called to the terminal at around 3.20pm today and was closed while officers ‘assessed’ the situation.

A witness had earlier told the Manchester Evening News his sister and her family were moved from one end of Terminal Two to the other.

But he said the atmosphere was ‘calm’, and his family were moved away from the shops and duty free towards the gate area.

Another traveller said passengers and staff were evacuated from the airport’s Terminal Two, but no information had been given about the cause.
