Paul Gascoigne, 53, helps to build a fire while wearing an arm brace on Italian I’m A Celebrity

He returned to the show on Sunday after returning to Italy‘s version of I’m A Celebrity after he dislocated his shoulder.

And Paul Gascoigne was seen helping out as much as he could despite his injury by helping to build a fire so he and his campmates could cook on the beach on Wednesday, they’re staying on an island near Honduras while filming.

The football legend, 53, had to spend a week in hospital after sustaining a shoulder injury during an endurance game on the reality show and looked thrilled to be back in the forest to continue filming the series.

Paul and his fellow campmates were seen gathering driftwood and tree branches that had fallen down in the forest.

He appeared to be in high spirits as he spoke animatedly with his fellow co-stars and was seen discussing cooking fish by the campfire with Beppe Braida.

Making sure to continue his recovery Paul spent most of the day with his sling in place, which was wrapped around his neck and over his torso.

Given the hot weather they were experiencing, Paul wore a pair of two-tone beach shorts that he later tucked in to cool himself down.

Gazza couldn’t contain his emotion as he burst into tears upon his return on Thursday’s episode and said that he missed the other contestants ‘more than anything else in the world.’

Doctors have instructed him to follow specific rules in order to support his recovery.

Honouring his comeback, the contestants congregated at the main camping area on Day 19 of the show to chat with the football ace.

The sports icon, who famously cried after England lost to West Germany during the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Turin, was seen adjusting his arm brace on the island.

Prior to his reentry earlier this week, Paul revealed he would be willing to return to the programme despite his accident.

The former Lazio star said he’s ‘quite good’ and added that his shoulder is ‘so, so’ as the show’s presenter Ilary Blasi asked for updates on his health condition.

During another episode last week, Paul could be seen gripping his arm in pain after completing an assault course with his fellow islanders.

He appeared in good spirits later on as he joked that the doctors spoke better English than the show’s host, Ilary.

Another penned: ‘Paul Gascoigne, let’s be best friends’, while one other added: ‘I watching Isola [I’m A Celeb] just for Paul Gascoigne.’

According to The Sun, producers of the series met recently to discuss whether Paul was fit enough to continue on with the show.

He was flown to hospital for emergency check-ups after sustaining his injury, forcing him to temporarily pull out of filming.

A friend of Paul’s told the publication: ‘He’s dislocated his shoulder. It’s such a shame as he was doing so well.

‘He’s resting while the medical team check him out. The producers are very concerned. He may be pulled out. There are insurance issues as well for them to consider.’

MailOnline contacted a representative for Paul for comment at the time, but they are yet to respond.
