House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will name a Democrat-led select committee to investigate the Capitol riot.
CNN reported Tuesday night that she would set up the panel after Republicans blocked a 9/11-style commission in the Senate.
The announcement was released just moments after Senate Republicans blocked the Democrats’ bid to advance the For The People Act voting rights bill.
Every Republican Senator voted against the proposal which need 60 votes to pass the filibuster.
Senate Minority leader Mitch McConnell called the bill a bid to orchestrate a ‘federal takeover of elections’ and one of the ‘biggest power grabs in US history’.
