A neighbour has shared the heartwarming note they received from two local boys collecting cans and bottles to exchange for money in order to buy a pet dog.
The neighbour found the note from the brothers Ronan and Xander in their letterbox when they arrived home from work in Perth on Monday.
They later posted a picture of the ‘lovely letter’ online to praise the siblings for their hard work.

‘Hi neighbours, this is Roman and Xander from (address). We are collecting cans and bottles as we are saving up for a dog,’ the note read.
‘So if you are not collecting can you please save for us and text my mum Nicola on (phone number) and we can pick up from you.
‘Thank you very much, Roman and Xander.’
The brothers were participating in Western Australia’s Containers for Change program, which offers 10c for each eligible container.
Given dogs can cost anywhere between $200 for a rescue pet to $3,500 for a designer pooch, the boys will have their work cut out.

Most aluminium, glass, plastic, steel and liquid paperboard drink containers between 150ml and 3L are eligible for a refund on the program.
Milk containers, wine and spirit bottles, 1L containers that held flavoured milk and juice, cordial and syrup are not eligible.
Collectors can drop eligible containers at depots, bag drop points, reverse vending machines or pop-up refund points.
Once there, workers count the containers to determine the refund.
Collectors can choose to receive funds via electronic funds transfer, cash, vouchers or simply donate the containers for free if they chose to.
