A pregnant woman is fighting for her life in intensive care after a teenage boy allegedly threw a rock which hit her in the head. 

The woman, 30, was a passenger in a car when the occupants got into an altercation with a group of people in a Perth shopping centre car park on Tuesday night.  

The 17-year-old boy allegedly threw the rock through the open car window at Waterford Plaza on Manning Road in Karawara.

Police said that after she was hit by the rock, the woman went into cardiac arrest.

Members of the public and police officers did CPR on her until an ambulance arrived.

The woman was then rushed to Royal Perth Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

The condition of her baby in unknown. 

The 17-year-old, who is from the suburb of Kensington, has been charged with grievous bodily harm and breach of bail.

He is due to face Perth Children’s Court on Wednesday.

The police have asked for anyone who saw the incident, or has mobile phone or dashcam footage taken in the carpark between 7pm and 7.30pm to contact Crime Stoppers.
