The search is on for an alleged animal abuser after a video of a cat being cruelly kicked over a fence resurfaced online.

Victoria Police have released an image of a man they believe can assist in their inquiries after officers from the Horsham Police Station received the sickening footage.

On Wednesday, police announced they had interviewed a 19-year-old man in connection to one of the videos, however a second man remains unidentified.

The shocking video of a man kicking a cat over a fence has resurfaced online, prompting Victoria Police to launch an appeal to identify the alleged abuser

Both of the videos appear to have been shot in the same backyard, with the second alleged animal abuser wearing the same blue jeans and grey hooded jumper.

Police say when or where the videos were filmed remains unknown, however the footage has circulated on Facebook for some time and was reuploaded on February 27.

In the first video the man entices the cat by dangling a piece of food over its head, encouraging it to rise up on its hind legs to reach it.

The man then swings his leg backward and kicks the animal over the backyard fence with a sickening thud, prompting laughter from his friends.

In the second video, uploaded in March 2017, a white and black cat is in the same backyard when the man kicks the animal in a similar fashion.

Police said the 19-year-old man from Horsham is expected to be charged on summons with cruelty to an animal in connection to one of the videos.

Investigators have released an image of a bearded man who remains unidentified, wearing his trademark blue jeans and grey jumper.

The video has received an overwhelming response from viewers on social media, with many calling for harsher penalties for animal abusers.

‘The poor cat innocently looking up breaks my heart’, one commented.

‘Is there such a thing as an ‘Animal Cruelty Register’? This stuff is invariably a precursor to nastier behaviours’, another questioned.

‘I’d love to get my hands on him and give him some similar treatment. A person like that is a low-life’, a third said.
