Officers in Barcelona say the travel document was discovered a few days ago but are not yet revealing any further details.

Missing posters are now being plastered all over the Catalan city in an urgent appeal for information of his whereabouts.

Mr Davis, who played rugby union for Bath and also appeared on Celebrity X-Factor, vanished after being caught on CCTV leaving the Old Irish Pub on Barcelona’s bustling La Rambla street at 10.05pm on October 29.

He is now known to have walked the short distance north to the Hard Rock Cafe where the trail has gone cold.

His mother, Julie Davis, who flew out to Barcelona to help with the search before returning home to Birmingham, said the family were becoming ‘increasingly concerned.’

She told MailOnline today: ‘This is a very worrying development because you cannot do anything in Barcelona without a passport.

‘Besides travel, you cannot book into a hotel or even rent somewhere without one. We know that his phone and two bank accounts have been untouched since he disappeared and so this is another blow.

‘There have been a few sightings of someone looking like Levi near La Boqueria Market and the Arc de Triomf monument over the last week but sadly we are not sure it’s him.

‘We remain hopeful but there have been no confirmed reports of Levi since the day he disappeared on October 29 and we are becoming increasingly concerned.

‘We’re very grateful to the police, particularly the Mossos D’esqurdra, and the British Consulate who are working very hard to find Levi.

‘This is the worst feeling in the world not knowing where Levi is. We just hope he is ok and want him home as soon as possible.’

Mr Davis had only been in Barcelona for three-hours, having arrived at the ferry port at 7pm following an eight-hour crossing from Ibiza, where he had been on holiday with friends.

The last time his phone signal was picked up was close to the city’s Sants mainline train station overnight on October 29.

The station is just over two miles from the Old Irish Pub, which Mr Davis visited for just 35 minutes.

He ordered a pint of Heineken and watched the Liverpool vs Leeds game on television as well as a live singer before leaving, according to the barmaid who served him.

Security cameras caught him heading out the venue – towards the Hard Rock Cafe – carrying a small black rucksack and wearing a white short-sleeved T-shirt, black trousers and black and white trainers.

Police in Barcelona have applied to the courts to obtain further CCTV footage from other local businesses to see where he went from La Rambla.

Mr Davis starred on Celebrity X Factor in 2019 alongside fellow rugby stars Ben Foden and Thom Evans in a singing group known as Try Star. He was also on E4’s Celebs Go Dating in 2020.
