Powerball makes 10 people from the tiny country town of Wentworth instant multi-millionaires as $40 million jackpot goes off
A group of 10 residents from a small country town have become instant multimillionaires after claiming the $40million Powerball jackpot.
The store syndicate from Wentworth on the NSW/Victorian border was the only division one winner in Thursday night’s draw.
The entry also scored 19 division two wins, division eight 4 times and division nine, bolstering the group’s total windfall to $40,517,739.00
Each syndicate member will take home $4,051,773.90.
Some are unaware of their lifechanging windfall as they were unregistered players.

Wentworth is home to 1,500 residents, according to the 2021 census.
Lottery officials have urged Wentworth residents to check their tickets as they try to track down the remaining syndicate members.
‘While we’ll be reaching out to those syndicate members who registered their entries, there are a handful of people with unregistered entries who may not yet know they’re part of this winning group,’ The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart said.
‘These players don’t know each other as they simply purchased a syndicate share from their local outlet, but now they have one thing in common – they’re now all multi-millionaires.’

The winning PowerHit entry was purchased at Wentworth Lotto and News.
‘Oh, that’s beautiful!’ ecstatic owner Rowan Congress said.
‘That’s great news for Wentworth. We’re in the middle of nowhere!
‘We’ve only been here for two years and this is the first division one win we’ve sold. How great that it’s a syndicate and lots of people get to share the prize.’
The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1424 were 10, 35, 27, 32, 6, 14 and 31. The Powerball number was 6.
Next Thursday’s Powerball jackpot is $4m.
