EXCLUSIVE: Production is halted on the upcoming season of Married At First Sight and the show’s reunion ‘is in limbo’ as brides and grooms refuse to return if they have to hotel quarantine

The 2021 season of Married At First Sight is fast approaching.

And while viewers may be getting ready to meet this year’s couples, producers are racing against time to try and film the show’s infamous reunion episodes.

Daily Mail Australia can reveal that Endemol Shine Australia have not yet recorded the show’s reunion episode finale, and it has been delayed until further notice.

While cast members are able to travel into NSW, participants based in Victoria, Queensland, Brisbane and Perth will be required to endure 14 days of mandatory hotel quarantine upon their return to their hometowns.

‘Eight brides and grooms have already had to quarantine for two weeks and they don’t want to have to do it again for just two days of filming,’ said a source.

According to the insider, producers are considering participants joining the reunion via Zoom, but are doing their best to try and negotiate plans for its stars to return in person.

‘They need drama and the only way for it to be a climactic ending is for them to be there in person,’ the source added.

‘The reunion doesn’t air until end of March, but nobody knows what is going to happen with the virus and travel, so they want it done soon rather than later.’

The television insider claimed while most of the show’s brides and grooms were only too happy to return, others had already returned to their jobs and family.

The show’s much-loved drama-filled cocktail and dinner parties are filmed at a warehouse in Sydney’s Lilyfield, which is currently considered a ‘red zone’ by the Victorian government.

The new coronavirus travel system, introduced last week, blocks anyone from a so-called ‘red zone’ and requires people coming from an orange zone or a green zone to apply for a permit.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Nine and Endemol Shine Australia for comment.

The eighth season of Married At First Sight will air on Nine in February
