Qantas flight from Singapore to Sydney is forced to divert to Adelaide after mid-air emergency

A Qantas flight from Singapore to Sydney has been forced to divert to Adelaide following a mid-air emergency.

Qantas flight QF82 departed from Singapore at around 9:10pm on Wednesday and was scheduled to land in Sydney on Thursday morning.

However the flight was diverted and landed in Adelaide around 5am after crews had announced a medical emergency.

No detail regarding the emergency has been revealed and the flight later departed Adelaide en route to Sydney. 

It marks the third time a Qantas plane has been hit with an emergency mid-flight in less than a week.

On Monday a Qantas flight QF1974 departed Adelaide at 11:20am and was scheduled to land in Canberra at around 1:25pm.

Cabin crews smelt fumes inside the cabin about 10 minutes after takeoff, leading the pilot to request a priority landing in order to immediately return to Adelaide. 

At the time a spokesperson for Qantas said that the ‘the fumes dissipated quickly, and no one was impacted as a result of the incident’.

Another QantasLink plane headed from Sydney to Port Macquarie was also diverted after it suffered a mechanical issue.

QF2162 left Sydney Airport at about 10.50am on Friday morning but returned and landed safely at 12pm.

Emergency crews had rushed to meet it.
