‘I don’t think anyone’s ever told him off’: Aussie radio host reveals he scolded Zac Efron to his face for being late to a function with Hugh Jackman

Radio host Gus Worland has recalled the time he once ‘told off’ Zac Efron to his face over his unpunctual behaviour.

On Sunday, the former Triple M star claimed the Hollywood heartthrob had rocked up an hour late to a football match in 2016, to which Gus’ best pal Hugh Jackman had invited him.

Speaking to Sam Armytage’s Something To Talk About podcast, Gus candidly revealed he wasn’t afraid to scold the actor over his rude behaviour, saying: ‘He just stood there. I don’t think anyone has ever told him off.’

Not having it! On Sunday, former Triple M radio host Gus Worland (centre) recalled the moment he once ‘told off’ Hollywood heartthrob Zac Efron (right) to his face, after he was an hour later to a football match with Hugh Jackman (left)

Gus said that Hugh and Zac had been filming The Greatest Showman together at the time, and the trio had planned to enjoy the NFL match together in New York.

But Gus was left ‘spewing’ when Zac turned up an hour late without an apology – causing the group to miss a tour that had been set up for them.

Shortly after, Zac apparently began playing music by a ‘cr*p’ rapper on the radio while sitting in the car with the pair – and the no-nonsense radio host claims he had finally had enough.

‘I said, ‘Zac, let me just give you a couple of tips. Firstly, I don’t care who you are. B, you’re late and you haven’t apologised yet and Jacko’s too nice to say it and… you’ve really effed up our day,’ he said.

‘From that moment on he was just like a little puppy. He was like, ‘I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to be.’ It was actually a beautiful conversation.’

Gus added that he told Hugh that he needed to be a ‘father figure’ to Zac, who ended up leaving the game at three-quarter time.

‘Sometimes you just need to give these guys a bit of a cuddle and a bit of home truths,’ Sam said to Gus.

Gus himself left Triple M’s Moonman In The Morning show in 2019, in order to focus his attention on his various mental health campaigns.

He has always been a passionate advocate for men’s mental health, and created the Gotcha 4 Life Foundation (G4L) in 2017.
