Red-faced Kate Garraway praises her milkman Mick for ‘offering her extras’ in hilarious accidental innuendo as she leaves the GMB studio in hysterics

Red-faced Kate Garraway left the Good Morning Britain studios in hysterics on Friday morning when she made an accidental innuendo while praising her milkman Mick.

Fellow host Ben Shephard, 46, had been reading out messages from viewers who have been touched by kindness during the coronavirus pendemic.

Wanting to thank Mick on air, Kate, 53, said she wanted to thank him for ‘offering her extras’ during this extremely difficult time.

Red-faced: Kate Garraway left the GMB studio in hysterics when she praised her milkman Mick for ‘offering her extras’ in accidental innuendo on Friday

She said: ‘Mick, my milkman, who has just been amazing.

‘He has absolutely just kept me going. He’ll leave me a little note saying “do you need anything extra other than the milk?”‘

After a split second pause, Ben burst out laughing as did presenters Alex Beresford and Richard Arnold and when she realised what she had said, Kate howled with laughter, putting her head in her hands.

Kate protested: ‘I mean, like bread, butter or orange juice, which he also supplies. He leaves a little smiley face.’

Ben teased: ‘Are you still answering the door in your dressing gown and fluffy slippers?’

Kate laughed: ‘And a shower cap… Mick, thank you. Shall we move on as I’ve got myself in trouble. Even I didn’t see that one coming.’

Mick is now trending on Twitter and Kate giggled and said: ‘Oh God I hope his family weren’t watching. He’s going to get back from his round and they’ll say “what the heck has been going on?”‘

It was heartwarming to see Kate laughing as she has been very open about her own personal struggles as her husband Derek, 53, remains in a coma.

He went into hospital in March with coronavorus and while he is now clear of the virus, his body has been ravaged from the effects of the disease.

Kate hasn’t been able to see Derek since Christmas following a surge in infections – and explained her ITV employers had given her leave after she found herself struggling to cope.

New restrictions introduced during the third lockdown, which bans any visitors on the ward where he is recovering.

Kate said: ‘I haven’t been able to see him [Derek], I haven’t seen him since Christmas. He’s back in a situation now looking at strangers in masks.

‘I think that’s a situation for everybody whose got someone they love in hospital at the moment it’s not unique to him.’

The mother-of-two explained she decided to take some time off from GMB after ‘not feeling well’ following a ‘long year’.

Kate said: ‘I’ve taken some time off; very kindly ITV have given me some time off, I hadn’t been feeling very well.

‘I think it might have been one of those things where chickens had come home to roost after a long year that we’ve all had, haven’t we?

‘I took some holiday leave, at home because I know holidays are controversial, literally within the four walls of my home.

‘I had a lot of sleep and a bit of medicine and feeling much better.’
