Homeland Security Committee Chair Ron Johnson demands FBI Director Christopher Wray confirm details surrounding Hunter Biden laptop scandal as he says Joe’s response to the story was ‘pretty odd’

  • ‘The FBI has a duty to inform us. If they believe this was maybe Russian disinformation, they should give us a defensive briefing,’ Johnson said
  • Johnson called the Biden campaign’s excuse regarding Hunter’s emails showing his father meeting with a Burisma executive ‘pretty odd’

Senator Ron Johnson demanded that FBI Director Christopher Wray reveal details surrounding Hunter Biden’s hard drive as he claimed the Biden campaign’s response to the scandal was ‘pretty odd.’

‘The FBI has a duty to inform us. If they believe this was maybe Russian disinformation, they should give us a defensive briefing,’ Johnson told Fox News’ Maria Batiromo on ‘Sunday Morning Futures.’

‘If, for example, they also believe that what information this whistleblower gave us is fraudulent, that would also be a crime, and FBI should tell us that,’ he continued.

Fox News obtained the letter the Homeland Security Committee chairman sent to Wray on Sunday.

‘I have a responsibility to validate and verify the contents of any information produced to my committee,’ Johnson said in the letter. ‘The committee must know if it receives information that could be fraudulent or not accurate.’

In the letter to Wray, Johnson details that a whistleblower contacted his committee on September 24 regarding Hunter Biden’s hard drive, which was left water damaged at a computer repair shop. The owner told the committee that he handed the MacBook laptop over to the FBI.

Johnson noted in his letter that his staff immediately asked the FBI to confirm or deny certain details to better validate the claim made by the whistleblower, but the bureau said they would not comment on any of the information.

‘[T]he committee must know whether the FBI has assessed the validity of materials the whistleblower has provided, and what, if any, actions the FBI has taken since obtaining this information,’ Johnson continued in his note to Wray.

The Wisconsin Republican senator said his questions about what the FBI knew about what was found on Hunter Biden’s hard drive and when they knew it speaks to a ‘larger issue.’

‘Why did they sit on it? Are they covering up just because Hunter Biden might be engaged in things that also maybe should have been investigated and possibly prosecuted? Do we have two systems of justice: one for Democrats and one for Republicans? One for the well-connected versus one for the rest of the Americans?’ he asked the Fox News host.

Biden’s campaign responded to all the allegations by pointing to an alleged meeting that never showed up on the Democratic nominee’s calendar.

Johnson called that excuse regarding Hunter’s emails showing his father meeting with a Burisma executive ‘pretty odd.’

‘The Biden campaign, all they’ve done to refute or deny any of this is to say that the meeting one of these emails revealed that Vice President Biden had with the No. 3 in control of Burisma never showed up on his official calendar,’ Johnson said.

‘There’s all kinds of meetings that didn’t show up on his official calendar. This wouldn’t surprise me if this one didn’t,’ he continued.

A New York Post report last week revealed Hunter’s laptop was left at a repair shop and never picked up – despite his lawyer trying to get it back after it was already turned over to the feds.

The shop owner ended up handing over the laptop to the FBI – and the report revealed the hard drive contained a slew of damaging information regarding Hunter and his father.
